A Review Of Shegadia Campsite Naivasha

Every so often, our bodies ask for a vacation away from our ordinary and monotonous lives, even if just for a weekend. Shegadia Campsite is one of the few places that offer this dream on an affordable platter. Located just 5 kilometres from Naivasha Town, Shegadia rests by the shores of Lake Naivasha. Below are some of the features that make this campsite a favourite weekend getaway.

Affordability

The most important part of any vacation is whether you are able to afford it or not. Luckily, the answer in Shegadia’s case is that you will definitely afford it. They have two main packages for their travellers; the small tent and the big tent. The small tent is the best option if you want to have a total camping experience. You will be sleeping on the ground with beddings provided of course. The tents, however, do not have electricity so torches are used as substitutes. These go for Ksh. 1500 per person, breakfast included.

The big tent is for people who want to be in the wild but also have some luxury. You will have electricity, a pallet bed, sockets, some chairs, and a study desk. It is just like a hotel room but in a tent. These go for Ksh. 2000 per head.

Serenity

Although it is just 5km from the town centre, Shegadia campsite is as serene as it gets. You will be surrounded by tall acacia trees that surprisingly provide cool and breezy shade. Birdcalls and zebra cries are the sounds that will lull you to sleep and wake you up in the morning. The stars above are magical and the lake’s breeze carefully balances the sun’s scorch. And the area being free from industrial manipulation will be calm, quiet and soothing.

Facilities

Aside from the camping grounds, Shegadia has a well-equipped restaurant, bar, a kid’s playground and a touring office that can arrange for your boat ride and game drive. The restaurant is just by the shores of the lake where you get to be just a few meters from hippos, pelicans, fish eagles and other magnificent animal life. The boat ride office has the best prices in the region as they are subsidized by the camp’s owner. If you choose to have a bonfire, then firewood is provided at an extra Ksh. 500. You should definitely try their fried fish before leaving the place. You will not be disappointed.

Great Customer Care

The owner of the camp is often there but in her absence, an onsite caretaker will receive you. She will help you in your check in, give you a comprehensive orientation and allow you to enjoy your stay with as little disturbance as possible. Make sure to take her number so that she can assist you when necessary.
